Ong Teng Cheong Institute of Labour Studies
 | |
The idea for a labour college was mooted at the 1969 National Trade
Union Congress (NTUC) Modernisation Seminar and realised on
1st September 1990 as the Singapore Institute of Labour Studies.
The Institute was renamed the Ong Teng Cheong Institute of
Labour Studies in late March 2002 to honour the memory of Mr
Ong Teng Cheong, former President of the Republic of Singapore
(1993 to 1999) and NTUC Secretary-General (1983 to 1993).
The Ong Teng Cheong Institute of Labour Studies, a non-profit
institution, is governed by a Board of Governors representing labour,
management, government and academia.
