Singapore National Co-operative Federation

The co-operative concept was introduced in Singapore as early as 1924 for wage earners who were struggling to make ends meet. The Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF) was established in 1980 with the objectives of furthering the principles and practice of cooperation; promote co-operative education; carry out research, collect and disseminate information connected to, and for the purpose of co-operative development; provide management, accounting, audit, legal and other advisory services for affiliates; and organise and represent the co-operative movement of Singapore. Todate, the movement has more than 1.6 million individual members from 79 co-operative societies, of which 71 are affiliated to SNCF.
