The Singapore Environment Institute is the environmental training division of the National Environment Agency, a statutory board under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Singapore. Launched in February 2003, the Institute provides environmental courses that cater to the competency needs of NEA staff and those working in the industry. SEI also offers general environmental awareness courses on weather, resource conservation, and environmental laws to the general public. SEI's key training areas include pollution management, solid waste management, environmental public health management, urban environmental management, and weather and meteorological services.
SEI also actively promotes knowledge transfer among global and regional partners, and offers capacity-building programmes to government officials from other countries as well. Since its year of inception, SEI has provided more than 30,000 course placements to NEA/ENV staff and the local industries. The Institute has also helped train more than 700 international participants from over 60 countries.
