 | The Republic Polytechnic (RP), Singapore’s fifth and newest postsecondary educational institution was established on 1 August 2002 and commenced its operations from July 2003. RP’s strength lies in Engineering, Information and Communications Technology, and Applied Sciences with specific focus on biomedical sciences. Hybrid programmes incorporating business studies are also offered. A key focus of RP is on creating a learning environment as opposed to a structured design for instruction where subject knowledge is learnt while using and developing process skills in the context of applications. Termed as Problem-Based Learning, students solve problems set by the designers, working in groups under the supervision of the facilitators. |
